The first of our guests this month are from two instutitions which are committed to archiving both internet arts discussions and
networked art: the PANDORA, Project - Australians Internet Archive, and Cornell University Library which also includes the Rose
Goldsen Archive of New Media Art,

---> Gerard Clifton works in the Digital and Audio Preservation Resources section of the National Library of Australia. His areas
of activity include identifying issues and strategies for long-term preservation of digital materials in both online and offline
environments, work on preservation metadata to support long-term access, characterisation of the Library's digital collections and
provision of access to obsolete
formats.
He also contributes to collaborative initiatives, including the Preserving Access to Digital Information (PADI) subject gateway
(http://www.nla.gov.au/padi/) and PREMIS (Preservation Metadata Implementation Strategies)
(http://www.oclc.org/research/projects/pmwg/). In conjunction with Michael Day of UKOLN at the University of Bath, he compiles the
current awareness digest "What's New in Digital Preservation?" on behalf of PADI and the UK Digital Preservation

---> Nancy McGovern spent over a decade working on electronic records at the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration
(NARA) and has been working on digital preservation issues since 1986. Ms. McGovern is a co-editor or RLG DigiNews
http://www.rlg.org/en/page.php?Page_ID=12081 and is also the Digital Preservation Officer at Cornell University Library.
Ms. McGovern currently heads the Research Department in Instruction, Research and Information Services (IRIS) at Cornell
University Library and is working on her PhD in digital preservation at University College, London.
---> Margaret Phillips has worked in libraries since 1976. She worked in the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Library from 1976
until 1987, when she joined the staff of the National Library of Australia. In 1994 she became the manager of the Acquisitions
Section where she increasingly dealt with electronic materials. In 1996, she began to devote full-time
attention to both online and physical format electronic publications.
She has been closely involved with the establishment of PANDORA, Australia's Web Archive, and the policy, procedures and
infrastructure necessary for ensuring long term access to Australian Internet publications. She is currently director of the
Digital Archiving Section.
---> Paul Koerbin has worked at the National Library of Australia since 1994 and has worked in the Library's Digital Archiving
Section since 1996. He currently supervisors the Section which is responsible for the selecting and archiving Australian online
resources for long-term preservation in
PANDORA .
